Historic house on Tinos island, Greece

Xinara House is a newly-restored classic Cyclades stone-built house from the 17th-18th centuries. There are ancient decorative marble fanlights and plasterwork. Tinos has local marble with exceptional skilled workers who made new floors, tables and even solid-marble basins for the bathrooms and kitchen. Traditional island pebble-patterns are laid on terrace. The exterior is painted with natural limewash to which is added 'loulaki' (old-fashioned laundry blue) in time-honoured fashion. Outside are old mulberries (silk was produced at the house), walnuts, almonds and fruit trees. A stylish and quirkily decorated  greek house with lots of art!
