The house renovated by Wespi de Meuron studio is located on a hilly, in Treia, Italy. The property has 300 years old and it was a farm house at the beginning. The architects wanted to transform the old building into a contemporary dwelling and holiday house, with attached quest house and pool. Most of its parts were preserved, whereas all the wood structure needed serious reconditioning and they were replaced. The architectural concept combines the old substance with new interventions: sometimes by contrast and sometimes by merging both old and new. For example, the roof was restored in the traditional way, while the new interior walls are in white plaster.
